With an extra week between roster updates, MLB The Show 22 will see further changes tomorrow. As a rule, the list is updated every Friday. But an extra week has been added between now and the last list update.
In our last estimates, I guessed two-fifths. We hope for better results this time.
Now it’s our turn to review the five players who have really stood out over the past three weeks and earned a promotion from Gold to Diamond.
#1 Sandy Alcantara #22 – SP / Miami Marlins
It’s a shame that it took Alcantara so long to reach the diamond. It was amazing all season. Alcantara leads the league with 12 innings and has a 1.73 ERA. This has been just as consistent since the list was last updated. He had four starts and went 2-1 with 21 hits and a 1.74 ERA. In our opinion, Alcantara should have been diamonds now, but that should be seen as a key to improving the list.
#2 Clay Holmes #35 – CP / New York Yankees
The Yankees’ new scorer has had a phenomenal year so far. Since the roster was last updated, Holmes has played eight games. In all but one of those appearances, Holmes did not allow a run. He had a crushing performance against the Reds recently, but other than that he was unbeaten. Holmes hit six and had four saves. If Holmes doesn’t get a diamond rating tomorrow it’s because of this trip, but he should still get a promotion.
#3 Max Fried #54 – SP / Atlanta Braves
The Braves ace has been closing the shots lately. Fried has had four starts since the roster was last updated. In those starts, Fried has a 22-hit ERA of 1.82. He faced three of the best teams in the league: the Dodgers, the Mets and the Cardinals. Fried should be able to go 9-3 with a 2.56 ERA this year and a positive jump in the lineup tomorrow.
4. Nico Hoerner #2 – SS/Chicago Cubs
Nico Hoerner could be a surprise addition to the Diamond Club tomorrow. Since the last update of the range, it is doing very well with the .353 AVG. But Hoerner is not a strong man since he has only one point since his last renewal and only five points in the season. Hoerner is a man who reaches the middle of the list and only reaches the bottom. It would be surprising if he jumped, but not impossible.
5. Ryan Helsley #56 – CP/St. Cardinals Louis
Since the last roster update, Helsley have dominated. He played eight games in those games, hitting 19 of 11 innings. He finished 3-1 and did not concede two saves and a goal. In those 11 innings, Helsely allowed just two runs and had a 1.64 ERA. Helley, St. Louis has been the rocky end of bullfighting and should see general service in tomorrow’s roster update.
