Unreleased AMD Ryzen Processor Surpasses 100,000 Points in Cinebench R23

Pretty much any AMD Ryzen CPU you throw into your gaming PC should deliver excellent performance across a wide variety of applications, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a chip that performs as well as a newly discovered chip. In the hands of an experienced overclocker, the unreleased AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5990X processor managed to achieve a six-figure score in Cinebench R23.

Extreme overclocking specialist SkatterBencher (via WCCFTech) was able to grab a tech sample of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5990X and immediately get to work, maxing out the processor. By applying various overclocking methods, they managed to get the processor to achieve an absolutely incredible score of 100,191 points in Cinebench R23.

Remarkably, this was achieved without the use of liquid nitrogen, with the SkatterBencher using one of EK’s best CPU coolers on the market. However, this level of performance didn’t come cheap, as the overclocking platform cost $2,943 and the processor itself would have to add another $5,990, bringing the price of this platform to just under $9,000.

We don’t expect the AMD Ryzen 7000 processors to perform that well, but they should definitely be among the best gaming processors you can buy this year. That is, of course, if Intel Raptor Lake can’t screw up Team Red’s plans for market dominance.
