Yesterday, Ubisoft presented it again skull and bonesreveals a lot of information about the gameplay and release date of the pirate open world.8 November 2022. However, there is one detail that is not clear: Will it also be released on PS4 and Xbox One? Let’s try to clarify.
In the information shared at yesterday’s promotional event, in the press release sent by Ubisoft and on the game’s official website, there is no mention of the old generation versions of Skull and Bones, which will officially go on sale on November 8. On PlayStation 5, “Xbox Series X | S, Stadia, Epic Games and Ubisoft Connect”.
In short, the PS4 and Xbox One versions seem to have been canceled in production, as suggested by the ESRB and the Brazilian rating board, which has rated Skull and Bones for current-gen platforms only, in the past few weeks. Except for PS4 and Xbox One.
However, in our Exclusive interview with Ryan Barnard, the game’s game director, speaks clearly to us about the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Skull and Bones. “Will we see it in the older generation?” When asked, he replied:
“We are focusing on current generation platforms that are compatible with past generations but not current generation. […] So if you are using a PC […] or a past-gen console won’t have the performance you’d get with maxed-out hardware.”
In practice, Barnard accepts understandable technical concessions while Skull and Bones’ also works on PS4 and Xbox One.
To clarify the issue we contacted Ubisoft ItalySkull and Bones’ PC, PS5, Xbox Series X only | It has confirmed that it will be available on S and streaming (Google Stadia and Amazon Luna).
As such, the game will not be released on PS4 and Xbox One, with older-gen versions that were clearly set aside during efforts by the developers to focus on current-gen platforms.
