The new Stardew Valley mod finally lets you marry Susan thanks to Bxrribub. And if your first reaction to that is “who the hell is Susan?”, you probably haven’t played Stardew Valley Expanded, a massive mod project that isn’t a traditional mod and looks more like Stardew Valley 2.0 than the real thing. Update 2.0 for the life simulator. SV Expanded introduced Susan in version 1.6 of her, giving her a home at Emerald Farm and making her something of a farm girl to the player, albeit a platonic one.
She loves movies, popcorn, pancakes, and blueberry pie, but she doesn’t like Joja Mart products at all. This upset is understandable, since the company’s negligence caused a landslide near her country house, which left her indoors for several days.
Stardew Valley Expanded already gave Susan some heart events, and the mod left them untouched. What it adds is the ability to date Susan and marry her, apparently with a set of wedding dialogues, wedding animations, kisses, and flower dance animations.
In addition to installing Stardew Valley Expanded, you’ll need to replace several of Susan’s original files with modified versions of them. However, it’s still a work in progress, so some features like the wedding calendar aren’t ready yet, but the creator has invited anyone who can make them work to develop them if they want. .
The expanded version of Stardew Valley was impressive enough, but the number of additional mods it helped create and how they changed the game is truly impressive, and not just them. Solid Foundations is a more recent development that, instead of adding new macro features like characters and cultures, simplifies what already exists and gives you more control over the growth of your farm.
Or you can just have ice cream and ask people out because that’s cool too.
Whatever your preference, expect to see even more creations in the near future, as Stardew Valley 1.6 aims to simplify the modding environment.
