Larian Customizes Baldur’s Gate 3 Classes – Literally

Baldur’s Gate 3’s class selection is getting a little bigger with the game’s eighth major update, Larian announced on his recent livestream. The fan-favorite Bard class joins the RPG with two subclass options and the ability to sing campfire songs just for fun. College of Valor bards fight minstrels who buff allies, attacks, and weapons with their unique songs, while College of Knowledge bards play a more supporting role. They specialize in weakening enemies, strengthening allies, and using one of 97 individual insults depending on the occasion (nope, that’s right).

Starting at level four, any bard with the Performer skill can put on an impromptu performance and delight nearby NPCs with their musical prowess, though not everyone will be happy with such antics.

Larian is also adding dwarves as a new playable race, the first since Baldur’s Gate 3 entered Early Access.

Elsewhere in the patch notes, Larian said he’s adding a killcam that zooms in when you land a critical hit, making critical hits and magic attacks more spectacular. Secondary enemies now stack, attack, and move together to speed up combat.

Finally, you just can’t have a great fortune with bad hair, so Larian has added a new hair shader and “other enhancements” to liven up everyone’s hairstyle.

It’s unclear how many more updates we’ll see, as Larian previously promised that this was the last year of development for Baldur’s Gate 3. We can probably expect some small updates to tweak classes like Druid, but if you have any love for Reason Flayers, don’t wait. nothing drastic. BD3 will probably be playable on the Steam Deck before you kiss those juicy tentacles.
