Red Dead Redemption 2 updates will likely never arrive; Despite producing one of the most engrossing, rich and evocative open worlds ever, Rockstar, for some reason, seems to let it float around like a ball of Valentine’s fields. But that doesn’t mean the game is over, as the passionate RDR 2 modding community continues to find new ways to bring the western to life.
For example, Vestigia, a new giant RDR revision from modder #12 and his dedicated team. The result of over a year of work, it’s a complete overhaul of Red Dead Redemption 2’s single-player world, improving weather systems, wildlife, and pedestrian behavior in an effort to make Red Dead Redemption 2’s favorite masterpiece Rockstar even more believable and real.
The mod is divided into four modules, which essentially serve, according to #12, “four mods in one”.
First there is the weather, the temperature changes and the rain-sun transition systems so that the rains last longer and more gradually turn into clouds, cold and then return to sunlight. The visual module also focuses on the weather, but more on how it looks than how it behaves. Items like fog, low clouds, and dust storms are now rendered in greater detail and their time cycles have changed, meaning they can last longer or only occur in certain regions.
Flora has also been fixed so that forests are overgrown and terrain in general is more sensitive to Arthur’s presence – jumping into water creates more bubbles and foam, for example.
The fourth mod is the most important though, as it increases the pedestrian limit in cities (such as Saint-Denis) to 255, and also changes their AI to be more likely to interact and talk to each other, which is translates into greater animation. life. and a realistic open world. . Vestigia also revisits Red Dead creatures and wildlife, placing more birds in the sky and ensuring that animals only appear in places where it would make sense. In the past we have seen rabbits, deer and wolves in the same small field near New Hanover. While this makes them easier to hunt, it’s a bit of a pain if you really want to immerse yourself in the world of Red Dead, then Vestigia could be a good fit.
The mod is available as a free download, and it will certainly work well with some of the other mods we’ve reviewed recently, including Red Dead Redemption 2’s revised law system and slightly nastier death physics.
