Deleting a store: The presence of the store in the game led players to consider whether microtransactions affecting gameplay or a pay-to-win approach would be added to the game. Crossfire: Legion.
While gameplay-affecting units and items were never supposed to be tied to real money – just an in-game currency tied to the player’s progress – Smilegate admits that the way it was presented was quite confusing. They also listened to player feedback about blocking units and/or commanders after a player’s progress.
As a result, Crossfire: Legion with the next update, we will remove the store and the unit unlock system – we don’t want anything to stand between players and enjoy the classic RTS gameplay that the game offers. In other words, this means:
- All current and future units will always be immediately available to all players.
- You will never need to unlock objects that affect the gameplay
- Operations will be removed as a result of the above and will later be replaced with a new progression system.
- DLCs are still planned for the future
Act II Campaign: The battle continues in the next four missions of our exciting character campaign, featuring new locations and story points. Continue to explore the vast world and lore of the Crossfire universe.
New Game Mode: Battlelines: Battlelanes allow for 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 matches with an emphasis on army composition rather than unit micromanagement. This is a macro-focused game mode where players place their units in formation within a designated area and watch them appear in waves that will fight autonomously towards the other team’s headquarters.
New Payload Map: Badlands: In the Badlands, players fight for every payload between dense foliage and challenging jungle terrain, using many narrow lanes to set up ambushes and unleash targeted attacks.
Other important updates are also being added based on player requests, such as hotkey mapping and in-game economy tweaks. If you’d like to know more details, feel free to check out our latest developer blog at the Steam link.
In addition, we have the first ESL champions: In recent days, the final matches of the first ESL Crossfire: Legion tournaments have been held in Europe, America and Asia. Congratulations to the winners and looking forward to the next exciting tournament. A summary of the results can be found here: https://play.eslgaming.com/crossfire-legion.
