343 Industries is promoting a collaborative Halo Infinite campaign and has announced the first test flight of the collaborative campaign starting on July 15. 343 shared an announcement on their blog where members of the development team discussed some of the features you can expect, including world states, how progress is reported for all players, and the freedom you’ll have when playing FPS with friends.

How Halo Infinite’s cooperative campaign works

Progress is tracked for everyone in Halo Infinite’s cooperative campaign, regardless of team leader, and is an ongoing process. You don’t need a separate save file to play co-op, and if your friends find a collectible during a co-op session, it counts as your finding.

“I could play the single player campaign, go into a co-op session for a few hours, then go back to single player and see all the mission progress, collectibles purchased, gear found, achievements earned, and upgrades made on any session. it would be intact. said the campaign’s lead designer, John Mulkey.

There’s also a verification system that prevents someone from breaking the narrative sequence, which the team felt was one of the issues preventing them from launching co-op with the main campaign. When you start a co-op session, the game will mark any missions completed by everyone as completed, but if one participant hasn’t completed it yet, it will remain incomplete.

Upgrades are another story as they are tied to individual players and will not be used by the entire fireteam.

343 also touched briefly on the area of the operations system, the tether that prevents crew members from wandering around the ring. Go too far and you’ll get a notification that you need to join the party. If you ignore this, the game will kill you and you will respawn at the closest party member.

However, it is not as restrictive as it seems. 343 said the warning worked at 800 feet and the kill zone was at 1,000 feet.

Halo Infinite Campaign Replay

Finally, 343 said that with the co-op update, it will be possible to replay campaign objectives. You will use Tac-Map to highlight the previous mission and choose to repeat it. The game takes you and your team, if you’re in co-op, to a mission location and while you can replicate the objective, you’re not locked into it. You can choose something else.

Whatever you decide, you’ll take all the cannonballs and skulls with you, even in the early missions.

How to Join the Halo Infinite Cooperative Test Flight

As with previous Halo Infinite test flights, you must be a Halo Insider to sign up and you must own Halo Infinite or have an active Game Pass subscription with the game installed. You will receive a Halo Insider opt-in notification to join the flight.

Since the purpose of the release is to check for bugs and improve the collaborative campaign, don’t expect everything to go smoothly.
