Red Dead Redemption and Cities: Skylines finally reunited

0

Red Dead Redemption has horses, cannons, action, but if you’re wandering around a desolate section of the frontier and feel like a saloon or two could do the trick, you can’t do anything big. Similarly, Cities: Skylines allows you to create the perfect bustling metropolis, but if the citizens get angry, you can’t just grab a Winchester rifle and, you know, shoot them.

That’s why we have Wild West Dynasty, the upcoming western survival and building game from Polish developer Moon Punch Studio. As an aspiring border guard, you arrive on the plains with the intention of creating a new civilization. You can plan your camp, build amenities like ranches and stables, and grow your skill tree as you strive to become a full-fledged city. It’s not a top-down city-building strategy game, as far as we can tell, the building mechanics are more inspired by the settlements of Fortnite or Fallout 4, but its ultimate goal is to create a functional and prosperous western city.

However, it is clear that it is not that simple. Environmental threats like weather and animals, as well as rivalry with local criminals, mean that crafting and building in Wild West Dynasty are just as important as survival. The game promises a vast open world, branching dialogues and stories, and dozens of quests with outcomes based on your decisions. It sounds very ambitious, but if Moon Punch can pull it off, it could be an extremely deep cowboy and construction sim.

Wild West Dynasty is scheduled for release in 2022, but you can find it on Steam and add it to your wishlist now. In the meantime, if you fancy more Western action, Red Dead Redemption 2 has some great new mods.
