Dreamlight Valley, Disney’s upcoming Stardew Valley-like game, received a new trailer during the latest Nintendo Direct, along with a release date for the game’s early access period.
Dreamlight Valley will launch on Steam on September 6 as an Early Access game, a date that was confirmed following a new trailer for the game that was shown as part of the Nintendo Direct on June 28.
Speaking of which, in addition to what we already knew about Dreamlight Valley, the trailer showed off plenty of other beloved Disney characters and features. We won’t list them all, but Wall-E, Maui, Ursula, Wreck-It Ralph, Buzz Lightyear, and of course Donald and Mickey made Dreamlight Valley their home. missions and activities adapted to each one.
Rémy from Ratatouille will teach you how to cook. Olaf from Frozen wants you to help him catch salmon. It all looks very sweet and pastoral, just the kind of life sim you’re looking for if you’ve been through Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing and, of course, love Disney movies.
You can customize your character, take and share in-game selfies, and build your own house. All of Dreamlight Valley has been afflicted by a magical curse called Oblivion, which means all of Disney’s heroes and villains have forgotten who they are and what they love, and it’s up to you to remind them by completing quests and offering them gifts. Judging from the trailer, it’s much bigger, brighter, and more visually complex than perhaps Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, and it could provide the deepest way to pass the time and live the best life we’ve ever seen.
