Several new Dune games have been in development since the successful release of the movie last year, and the strategy game Dune: Spice Wars is now in early access, but an MMO Dune is also expected, and now we might have our first idea. . of what the evil Harkonnen would look like in this game.
We’ve known for a long time that Funcom, the development team behind Conan Exiles, is developing an MMO survival game on Dune. However, in the last two years, we haven’t seen a single new Dune art.
Now two artists working at Funcom have unveiled a detailed 3D model of a character named Captain Jakin Nefud Harkonnen. While they call it “fan art” (quoting them), Rui Pereira is a 3D character artist at Funcom working on Conan Exiles and Dune, and 3D hairdresser André Pires also confirms that he’s working on Dune. So this at least gives fans a possible idea of where the Dune game is headed in terms of character design; who knows, maybe this captain will even show up in the final game.
Although Harkonnen’s design was more influenced by David Lynch’s 1984 film than the 2021 film, Pereira says he “introduced new elements to give it a more modern feel,” aiming to create “a Harkonnen feel.” He says the character is one “that sums up the Harkonnen soul, making him seem decadent and hardened, but also with a smile that says, ‘I’m not easy to beat.'”
While none of the artists provide a direct description of Funcom’s game, aside from confirming it as “an IP Dune-based survival game,” this art is just about the only Dune-related art the Funcom team has created since the announcement of the game. Project. Hopefully sooner or later we’ll get a good look at the MMO Dune.
As for Dune: Spice Wars, it’s currently in early access and just released a huge multiplayer update with a fifth faction coming this summer. We bet on Corrino’s house.
