Apex Legends players noted a new Crazy Maggie bug that prevents her Riot Drills from dealing damage through Newcastle’s Mobile Shield. Maggie’s Riot ability sticks to solid obstacles and burns enemies on the other side, making it the perfect way to lure opponents out of obstacles or shields in Battle Royale, but it’s currently not working properly.
The drill generally works against defenses created by legendary abilities like Gibraltar Defensive Dome and Newcastle Moving Shield, as well as natural cover, walls, and gates. Reddit user Sweatyeagle8497 originally posted a clip showing the bug in action, but that wasn’t enough to stop them from taking down their opponent. They then ran some tests and found that this was happening all the time: the riot control exercise was not binding to the shield but instead updating its cooldown. So at least you don’t lose it, but you don’t get the expected benefit either.

This bug joins ongoing reports that Loba’s bracelet is facing a similar issue where it would sometimes randomly disappear and reset its cooldown instead of teleporting her when she hits the ground as expected. Elsewhere, other users are still reporting cases where the Ghost becomes invulnerable for a short time after leaving the void.
Respawn’s live balance designer recently explained why he thinks the new weapon “should be sexy and powerful” to encourage FPS gamers to use it.
