Final Fantasy XIV’s New Free Entry Event Wants You To Return To Eorzea

Just when you thought you weren’t home, FFXIV’s final free entry event awaits, taking you back to Eorzea. The free entry campaign is designed to bring lost subscribers back to the MMO, and as the name suggests, it costs you nothing, at least for a (very) limited time. FFXIV’s latest free entry campaign kicked off early on June 15 and runs until June 30 at 7:59am PT / 10:59am EST / 3:59pm PT, but you’ll actually only get four days of free service. These four days start after you log in, so if you’re planning on taking advantage of this event, make sure you can make the most of it.

As always with these free login campaigns, you will need to meet some eligibility criteria. You must own the game and register it at some point, and your account must be inactive, or in other words, you cannot have an active subscription.

However, it goes one step further as the third requirement is that your account must be inactive for at least 30 days. Assuming you meet the criteria, you can log in as usual and the free days will start from there.

This time around, Square Enix is hoping that the recent improvements in Update 6.1 will be enough to keep players coming back, namely the Duty Support system. This is technically an older system introduced in previous expansions, but with 6.1 the service support system is finally extended to A Realm Reborn dungeons.

This means you don’t have to spend any of your four days off waiting to join a group of other players. Instead, you can immediately jump into dungeons with a group of NPC players. Il na peut-être pas l’aspect social que vous attendez d’un MMO, mais cela signifie que vous pouvez defier n’importe quel donjon avec n’importe quelle classe ou rôle que vous voulez sans avoir à prendre en compte le wait time.

Square Enix’s invitation to players to return to the game is itself an early 2022 development, and in late 2021, the publisher had to shut down servers because they couldn’t handle the influx of players. The future of the multi-year MMO looks bright and more are on the way: Producer Naoki Yoshida said the team is already planning new work for the post-Endwalker patches.
