Sweet transit city builder train simulator has free demo

Sweet Transit, the train-only city-building game, is coming to the Steam Early Access Station this summer, but you can try out that transportation right now thanks to a free demo launching as part of the upcoming Steam Festival.

As we already pointed out, Sweet Transit is something of a throwback to the old Transport Tycoon games and was created by one of Factorio’s artists, Ernestas Norvaishas. It has a very nice ’90s aesthetic, and is an interesting mix of almost Anno-esque city building with the more complex planning, routing, and controls found in transportation games.

There’s a lot going on in Sweet Transit, and the demo includes a four-part guide that will walk new players through the ins and outs of building a village, connecting different locations for train routes, expanding your operations, and scheduling trains. You’ll need to provide your workers with food and shelter, and make sure everything is connected by roads and rail.

Here is the latest trailer:

Sweet Transit starts out simple, but as it expands from a warehouse, things quickly get complicated. Over time, you will control the transition from steam to diesel locomotives, and new technological developments will open new economic opportunities for your colonies and your network, but only if you are willing to reorganize and redesign your business.

Publisher Team17 has announced that Sweet Transit will be available on Steam Early Access on July 28, so you have time to check out the new demo before it moves into the next phase of development.
