Game director Joe Shely diablo 4explained in an interview the reasons why they were not present at the launch of the game unpublished classesbut only the former glory of the previous parts of the series.

Diablo 4’s fifth and final class, Necromancer, was presented at the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase 2022. A comeback would undoubtedly be welcomed, but it’s also true that some of the fans would prefer some news on that front. Shely explained that the decision not to include the new classes was made on the basis of players’ expectations and to make sure that some aspects of the previous games are also present in Diablo 4, albeit with a more modern overhaul.

“Diablo 4 is in many ways a love letter to our fans,” Shely said. We’re very focused on the “back to dark” theme. And we know that when we make a Diablo game, expectations are very high thanks to Diablo 2: Resurrected, Diablo 3 and previous games. There’s a lot of elements that really need to be there, and when it comes to classes, we wanted to make sure that the kind of experiences players remember fondly are there, but in a more modern version. “

Diablo 4 classes available at launch will be Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Cutthroat, and Enchantress. Recently, Blizzard confirmed that the game will receive expansions upon release that could add more classes to the game.

Diablo 4 will be available for PC and console throughout 2023. Beta subscriptions are currently open.
