The Convergence mod for Elden Ring is currently in development, and for now its creator gave some advice what to expect from an unofficial RPG expansion, if it’s anything along the lines of its previous project, Dark Souls 3 The Convergence, there’s a lot to look forward to. Dark Souls 3 Convergence is essentially a fan-made expansion that adds new weapons and bosses, significant changes to key areas, and even significant changes to existing systems like alliances. Player reaction to the announcement has been overwhelmingly positive, with the majority of comments expressing excitement and disbelief that the project has come to fruition.
Some have jokingly requested that the modder only have to eliminate smallness to make the game perfect, but most seemed happy that, in the absence of the Elden Ring DLC, they had something new to look forward to.
One of the greatest achievements of Dark Souls 3 The Convergence has been the adjustment of all the weapons in the game, rebalancing them so that any weapon is viable. Considering the number of Elden Ring mods on Nexusmods created to do the same for multiple weapons in FromSoft’s open world RPG. With the latest Elden Ring patch barely mentioning weapon changes, FromSoftware seems happy to have left PvE and PvP combat in the game as it is for now.
The previous mod also tweaked magic into multiple subclasses with new spells and playstyles, and even added new bosses. Elden Ring already has a boss or two, though with complaints that the regular enemies are a bit repetitive, there’s plenty of room to work outside of bosses too.
What sounds more exciting for Convergence fans, though, is the prospect of exploring The Lands Between even further. One commented that they hoped that Elden Ring The Convergence would unlock some of the locked areas on the map instead of the official DLC, while another hoped that they could finally enter Erdtree and uncover more mysteries surrounding The Greater Will.
Development on Elden Ring The Convergence is just beginning, which means we probably have a long time to wait for the sequel. Until then, we’ll just have to make do with the existing batch of Elden Ring mods and watch Godric walk through the game completely alone again.
