The Warcraft 3: Reforged update that Blizzard president Mike Ybarra hinted at back in May is finally available. A new RTS game update is available in the Public Test world, which includes new features such as ranked play, leaderboards, and player profiles.
According to the patch notes, Warcraft 3: Reforged version 1.33.0 allows players to choose between ranked and unranked games, with ratings resetting at the start of each new competitive multiplayer season. Players will have a unique MMR for each race, as well as a separate MMR for random races. You’ll need to play five rank matches (again, per race) to get your starting rank, and after each match you’ll see a breakdown screen showing rank and MMR changes.
Ranks start with “Unranked” and progress to “Fighter”, “Contender”, “Rival”, “Duelist”, “Elite”, “Gladiator”, and “Champion”. You’ll also be able to check your place on the leaderboards, which can be filtered by username, race, and game mode. You can find the leaderboard on the Versus screen.
The new version of the PTR also adds player profiles, and you can view yours by right-clicking on your player icon at the bottom right of the screen. Profiles of other players can be viewed by right-clicking on their name and selecting “View Profile”.
Blizzard says that this version of Warcraft 3: Reforged also includes several balance adjustments for “several campaign maps,” but the patch notes don’t detail what those changes entail.
The developers say they plan to test the new version of Warcraft 3: Reforged for two to three weeks and gather feedback from players during that time.
