How big is Starfield? As amazing as it sounds, Todd Howard says you can land anywhere and explore any of the RPG’s 1,000 planets in 100 star systems. In a presentation to Xbox Bethesda Games, executive producer Bethesda Game Studios detailed the scale of space games.

“You may be wondering how big this game is.” Howard answers his own question by starting with a single planet. “You can land in Atlantis,” he explains, “but you can also land and explore anywhere on the planet. And it’s not just this planet, it’s all the planets in the system. From barren but resource-hungry ice balls to vibrant Goldilocks planets. And it’s not just this system, but more than 100 systems… More than 1000 planets open for exploration. We can’t wait to see what you find.”

This gigantic promise certainly helps explain why the open-world game has been in development for so long after it was recently announced that it’s been pushed back to 2023.
