Phasmophobia’s latest update, which Kinetic is calling Truck Overhaul, is out now, and in addition to the promised truck overhaul, it adds new ghosts to one of the best haunted games on PC. If you enjoyed exploiting the sanity pill bug and getting infinite sanity pills, Kinetic Games has some bad news for you.
The Truck Overhaul update adds new skins and models to the truck and makes it easier to grab the gear you need by mounting it to walls instead of leaving it clustered on multiple shelves. It also introduces three new types of ghosts: Deogen, who constantly watches you; a moroi, a vengeful ghost who curses his victims; and Thay, a ghost who always ages… more or less.
In the two weeks after the new Phasmophobia update, you can expect these ghosts to appear much more frequently, as Kinetic said they want to give players a better chance of understanding how they work, rather than discovering them in the patch notes. . While this may seem like a step back from the more transparent patch notes Kinetic promised in early 2022, there’s a good reason for it.
“We hope this brings back the original meaning of investigator and allows players to work together as a team to uncover the truth!” the team said in the patch notes.
The Truck Overhaul update also replaces the original Windows-based speech recognition system with one that supports more languages and platforms, including Steam Deck.
Other updates include the warmth of the Maple Lodge fire and some welcome changes to various ghosts. The mist will never appear if Oni are nearby at the time, and Genie will leave her EMF tag next to the fuse box when they use her abilities.
This is in addition to a host of other changes, from improved shadow and lightning effects to fixing a bug that allowed us to double Sanity pills indefinitely.
Meanwhile, Kinetic has promised more custom difficulty update news in the near future.
If you’re scared and phasmophobia alone isn’t enough, there are plenty of other horror games to dive into.
