It’s 2022 and AMD plans to paint its gaming PC red with next-gen AMD RDNA 3 GPUs and Zen 4 processors. As well as products like Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 and Intel Arc Alchemist.
RDNA 3 graphics cards will certainly offer better performance than the current RDNA 2-based Radeon RX 6000 series, the lack of AI enhancements in AMD FSR could be a weak point in the company’s arsenal. Intel XeSS aims to increase frame rates and deliver image quality similar to Nvidia DLSS for all GPU brands, which could lead to full replacement of AMD FSR.
On the other hand, AMD CEO Lisa Su believes that RDNA 3 should not be as affected by the current chip shortage as graphics cards have been in the last two years.
Here is everything we know about AMD RDNA 3:
AMD RDNA 3 Release Date
AMD CEO Lisa Su confirmed that RDNA 3 GPUs are still expected in 2022, but the company hasn’t said exactly when it plans to release new Radeon graphics cards.
The latest rumors suggest that AMD’s RDNA 3 release date will be in October or November, but it’s not yet clear which pixel boosters will be available at launch.
AMD RDNA 3 Price
AMD RDNA 3 GPUs are likely to be more expensive than their RDNA 2 predecessors. The company has increased the price of its Radeon graphics cards by 10% since November 2021 due to increased chip wafer production by TSMC .
Unfortunately, the January 2022 report indicated that prices could still increase by 20%, but this could also affect Intel and Nvidia products. To put that into perspective, Radeon’s flagship card could be priced as high as $1,199, compared to $999 for the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT.
AMD RDNA 3 Specifications
Rumors suggest that AMD initially plans to produce three RDNA 3 GPUs: Navi 31, 32 and 33. 33 will be used in the resource and budget proposals.
Radeon Linux driver updates in August 2021 show that RDNA 3 can support DisplayPort 2.0 inputs. This would make them ideal for 8K/60Hz HDR monitors or even 16K/60Hz HDR displays when display streaming compression is used.
AMD RDNA 3 Benchmarks
AMD RDNA 3 benchmarks are not leaking for now. However, hardware source KittyYYuko claims that the Navi 31 GPU could be 2.5 times faster than the Navi 21 die used to power the 6900 XT.
