Double-Up initially functioned as a lab where players could team up into two teams and play with three other duos teams. Riot Games has announced that it has implemented a ranking system thanks to the success of the game mode.
Like standard TFT and League of Legends, the scoring system will have 9 tiers from Iron to Challenger, with four subsections per tier. The blog post recalls that Double Up focuses on “playing with friends, regardless of skill.” This way, players will be able to associate with anyone who wants to participate in Double Up, regardless of their rank. However, the matches will be based on a higher ranked player. However, players will continue to earn LP based on their current rank. This means that a low ranked player will lose less LP when losing against high ranked players and will receive more LP when winning against them.

New LP tracks have also been created on Gizmos & Gadgets. Added defensive protection so that players who have reached the rank skill level cannot leave the lower section. The Double-Up ranking system also earns you a unique LP. These include streak bonuses where players will receive bonus LP multiple times when they are in the top three. They also add permanent modifiers that give bonus LP to higher ranked players and good LP to lower ranked players.
The new TFT patch will be released on June 8, and players will be able to try out the new Double Up ranking feature as well as all the other new champions, traits, items, systems, and features that come with the new TFT update.
