While details about the video game are scarce, there’s a new Just Cause in development
Square Enix retains control over IP and is announcing that it’s already working on a game, will it be Just Cause 5?
Square Enix He’s already working on a new episode of Just Cause. As we reiterated in May, the sale of Final Fantasy’s parents’ western studios did not entail the resignation of IP outside of Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamic as the explosive open-world action series signed by Avalanche Studios. Now, the transcript of the company’s most recent shareholder speech gives us more details.
It’s not much, but it serves to clarify that in addition to maintaining control over IP, Square Enix has already commissioned the production of a new video game.
“Our idea is to focus on creating new titles that align with our strategy. The Just Cause franchise will remain in our IP portfolio and we’re working to develop it. a new part of the saga” can be read in a document shared a few hours ago by Square Enix, which deciphered some of the statements made to investors on May 13.

There is nothing more to share at the moment. And there’s a risk that Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda is talking about Just Cause Mobile, a shooter designed specifically for iOS and Android devices that will be released in 2022. Avalanche and Smuggling for Xbox
If Just Cause 5 is in the works, it’s probably the work of Avalanche Studios. We know the team is working on Contraband, an open-world co-op for Xbox Series and PC, but there are speculations that the studio will return to Mad Max to coincide with the start of filming for the new IP movie, Furiosa.
