So you have defeated the Elden Ring. And you have completed New Game Plus. And you did it in 20 hours, with no armor and no damage from Malenia. Yes, now you have to do everything again, except this time you will drink. And starve. And he slowly died of the plague. It’s true: Elden Ring is now a survival game.
Scott Mooney, better known as Grimrukh, the Soulsborne modder responsible for the upcoming (and unofficial) sequel to Dark Souls Nightfall, has just completed his latest project, Elden Ring: Survival Mode, which releases on June 6.
Survival Mode brings a host of additional features to FromSoftware’s latest masterpiece, including new crafting materials and additional weapon upgrades. The biggest addition, though, is the introduction of a Fallout: New Vegas-style thirst, hunger, and disease mechanic that forces you to constantly eat and drink to maintain your health and research cures for region-specific ailments. Wandering around the Altus Plateau too long, for example, will make your stomach rumble and force you to cook something to eat, while the blistering heat of Calida brings dehydration, fatigue, and blood-sucking parasites, which is a bit like sitting on a beer. garden at the end. July.
Perhaps the most difficult change is the lighting system. At night in the Midlands, it’s very dark now: without a torch or other light source, it’ll be hard to see the path two feet in front of you, let alone a pack of rune bears in ambush. It adds more but, if you like a challenge, a welcome dimension to an already demanding Elden Ring battle. If you want to travel to a new area but have nothing to cheer you up, it would be best to boil a steak to satisfy your hunger and wait until morning. But if everything seems too much: hunger, thirst, illness, and now you can’t see it! – Survival mode lets you turn its features on and off based on your preferences, so you can challenge yourself in the dark without having to worry about finding a drink.
