Final Fantasy 16’s release date has been moved up to summer 2023, according to the latest PlayStation live stream. We’ve also seen an exciting new trailer for the RPG, and it’s clear that developer Square Enix is going thick about duels between the famous summoned monsters of the series.
The trailer, which you can watch below, shows off some of Final Fantasy’s toughest pocket monsters, this time called “Akons,” facing off against each other in cutscenes and new gameplay. In the latter, they have health bars and the camera angle changes between side view and dramatic third-person view. At times it feels like a cross between a fighting game and a hack-n-slash RPG, but with huge, dramatic monsters. So far, Ramu, Ifrit, Phoenix, Shiva, Garuda, Odin, and Titan have been confirmed.
Under the boots of all these giants rush the people of this story who have much less air time than they do, but it is clear that there will be a “child of destiny” and at least one heartless emperor who does not care about collateral damage. . . .
Everything is par for the course in Final Fantasy, but it has never looked better and never been implemented on such a spectacular and impressive scale. Looked:
A new post on the PlayStation Blog confirms that “high-octane combat” will be a core gameplay experience, with protagonist Clive Rosfield wielding “a full arsenal of signature attacks from numerous Akons (summons) in the game.” among the Akons themselves.”
