On Monday (30) Ninjas in Pajamas said goodbye to Rainbow Six Siege (R6) player Julio “Julio” Giacomelli. Julio has been with the NIP since the organization started competing in June 2018, when he joined Joao “Kamikaze” Gomez and Gustavo “Psycho” Regal, now the only remaining members of the original roster.
On his Twitter, the ex-Ninja thanked NIP and said that he is open to suggestions not only as a player, but also as a coach and analyst.
“NIP has changed my life and I just have to thank all these years of many accomplishments and learning. I wish good luck to the players who stay and I also appreciate all these years of friendship and trust. At the moment I am a free agent, looking for a team for the next split. I am also open to coach/analyst suggestions,” Julio said.

With the Ninjas, Julio became world champion in 2021 when he won the Six Invitational Final against Team Liquid 3-2. The player even became the oldest player to win the championship.
Other times he was runner-up in SI in 2020 when he lost to Spacestation Gaming by decision, at the Six Sweden Major last season losing to FaZe Clan and at Brasileirão 2021.
As early as 2022, NIP performance has plummeted. The squad was eliminated from the Six Invitational in the first round of the lower bracket of the playoffs for MIBR, and ended up in last place in Brasileirão.
With Julio gone, the organization is exploring the possibility of hiring Gustavo “The Magician” Gomez, a Bubu’s Choice player. The information was revealed by journalist Rafael Ferreira of Blix, who also announced the arrival of Markus “Sneepy” Matos, formerly of Guidance Gaming, as the new coach of the Ninjas.
