Looking for the best version of Destiny 2 Solar 3.0 for your subclass? Solar Space Game’s new revision introduces a host of new ways to customize your character, whether you’re using the Dawnblade, Sunbreaker, or Gunslinger subclass. However, with so many possible combinations of grenades, melee, supers, and specials that you can still upgrade with shards, it can be hard to work out which version is best for your Guardian. Also, Destiny 2 Exotics and other bonuses can improve the build, so there are plenty of opportunities.
The Solar 3.0 update uses the same skin and shard system as the Void 3.0 update released with The Witch Queen. In case you’re coming back after a very long break from Destiny, Aspects affect a class-specific ability and also have some slots that can store shards. Fragments’ effects aren’t as strong, but they are universal to their subclass. The best build contains skins and shards that sync up for massive buffs.
Join us as we compile a list of the best Solar builds of Destiny 2 as Ghost Season rolls around.
Here’s the best Destiny 2 Solar build for each subclass:
- Blade of the Dawn Warlock
- sunbreaker titan
- hunter shooter
Dawnblade Warlock Construction
- Super Ability: shines well
- Class capacity: healing crack
- Movement capacity: explosive slide
- Melee Skill: Incinerator Accessories
- Grenade: healing grenade
- Look 1: the heat is rising
- Look 2: a touch of flame
- Fragment 1: consolation amber
- Piece 2: Amber of Benevolence
- Piece 3: Ember of the Empyrean
- Piece 4: coal quenching
The Warlock’s Shard Well, along with the Phoenix Protocol Pavilion, has always been a great way to help your team create Orbs of Light so players can continually replenish Supers. You can also extend these effects with Ember of Solace, which increases the duration of Radiation, and Ember of Benevolence, which increases the regeneration of your team’s grenade, melee, and class abilities for a short time. Add to that durable solar weapons like Eriana’s Oath and Embers of Tempering and Empyrean, and you’ll be a beacon of restorative good to all allies.
Note that Ember of Benevolence is not running because it contained an error when it started. However, assuming Bungie fixes this without rebalancing the shard, it will be a big part of this release when it returns.
Titan Parasol Assembly
- Super Ability: ground hammer
- Class capacity: rally barricade
- Movement capacity: machine gun elevator
- Melee Skill: hammer throw
- Grenade: incendiary grenade
- Look 1: roaring flame
- Look 2: undefeated sun
- Fragment 1: consolation amber
- Piece 2: Amber of Benevolence
- Piece 3: burning embers
- Piece 4: ash ember
You can’t go wrong with Titan’s Hammer of the Sun, Roaring Flames, and Aspects of Sol Invictus. Together they will increase the damage of your Sunshine ability and create Sunspots that will extend your Super. Since Sunspot inflicts burning, you can further enhance it with shards, like Ember of Scorching, which speeds up the cooldown of your class abilities when you ignite targets, and Ember of Ash, which applies more stacks of burning to targets.
You can then add Ember of Combustion so its superstart fires up, then power it up with Ember of Char to keep the cycle going as long as possible. More sunspots, longer hikes, and a hot, blazing hell to go around – what’s not to love?
Hunter-shooter training
- Super Ability: blade unloading
- Class capacity: acrobat dodge
- Movement capacity: machine gun jump
- Melee Skill: Weighted Throwing Knife
- Grenade: sun grenade
- Look 1: shoot them down
- Look 2: gunpowder game
- Fragment 1: ember rays
- Piece 2: coal torches
- Piece 3: burning embers
- Piece 4: scorching ember
Hunters can focus their Blade Volley on raw power to give it the broken feel it once had. The Knock ’em Down skin powers up Solar Supers, so pair it with an Ember Beam Shard that improves target lock and a Combustion Ember Shard that causes enemies hit by final blows to burst into flames. Super solar for an explosive chain reaction.
Add in the game aspect of gunpowder and you can use your abilities to charge up a solar grenade that will deal even more damage to hordes. Combine all this with the Shards of Galanor Gloves and you have more superpowers for Blade Barrage hits and kills. You can also link grenades and melee to set a ton of targets on fire before setting them all ablaze for a massive burst of damage.

All Solar Skins in Destiny 2
Temperature increase: This allows you to fire weapons, engage in close combat, and throw grenades while hovering. Holding the grenade button will consume the grenade and activate the heat risers, causing all airborne final blows to extend the duration of the heat risers and grant melee energy. This skin has 2 shard slots. (Sorcerer)
flame key: Strengthens the witcher’s grenade. This skin has 2 shard slots. (Sorcerer)
Icarus Race: The Guardian can quickly dodge in the air. If Heat Rises is active, you gain an additional dodge. This skin has 1 shard slot. (Sorcerer)
Roaring Flame: Finishing hits with Solar abilities or Ignites increases the damage of Solar abilities. This is summed up three times. This skin has 2 shard slots. (Titanium)
Sol Invictus: Solar ability last hits, solar hammer hits, and burned targets create sunspots. In Sunspot, your Super depletes more slowly and your abilities regenerate faster. These sunspots also ignite and damage targets, and touching sunspots causes a cooldown. This skin has 2 shard slots. (Titanium)
Consecration: When swiping, activating a charged melee weapon releases solar energy that deals damage and sets targets on fire. While in the air, reactivating your charged melee will knock you down and create a large wave of solar energy. If the wave hits a scorched target, it ignites. This skin has 1 shard slot. (Titanium)
shoot them: Enhances solar superpowers. Additionally, while glowing, final blows with the throwing knife restore melee energy. This skin has 2 shard slots. (Hunter)
Powder set: Defeating targets with abilities, solar debuffs, or solar weapons will charge up a solar grenade that players can shoot into the air to power up. This skin has 1 shard slot. (Hunter)
Your brand: Precise finishing moves increase your and your allies’ reload speed and weapon control: the effect stacks three times. Activating the Hunter class ability will also grant the maximum number of stacks. This skin has 3 shard slots. (Hunter)
