There’s now an Oculus Quest 2 mod that arms your device with prescription lenses, which can make all the difference when using the best Meta VR headset. Through the use of homemade lens adapters, gamers can now immerse themselves in VR games without sacrificing vision or comfort, and you can even 3D print them at home.
Created by Tanvac, oculus quest 2 lens adapters are also compatible with original Quest and Rift S headsets (via Hackaday). Although you have to order some round lenses to fit the 3D printed part, Tanvach includes instructions on how to order. Once you have the correct recipe elements, all you have to do is print them out.
If you wear glasses, you know how inconvenient it can be to use wearable technology. Slowly but surely, the industry is starting to greet enthusiasts with something that is already taking over as there is even an Acer laptop with a 3D display that doesn’t require additional glasses.
Tanvach’s Oculus Quest 2 Lens Adapters are a boon for eyeglass wearers and will definitely help more gamers enjoy VR in comfort. While the pieces are specifically for those with a recipe for a vision, the DIY solution proves that small projects can make a difference in technical accessibility.
Naturally, we don’t know if the adapters will be compatible with the upcoming Oculus Quest 3 and Project Cambria, but since we wear glasses, we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
