Blizzard cancels Pokémon GO-like Warcraft game

According to Bloomberg and Windows Central, Blizzard has canceled one of the mobile games distributed in the world of Warcraft.

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier wrote on Twitter that Blizzard plans to end its “dry sorcery” with several new releases. Among them, one said, are two Warcraft mobile games similar to Niantic’s popular location-based game Pokémon GO. Over at ResetEra, Schreier added that he’s “heard great things about both.”

That same weekend, Windows Central’s Jazz Corden wrote on Twitter, “For those of you asking me about Warcraft mobile games, I think a Warcraft game like Pokémon Go really got canceled recently. Not the Pokemon announced next week “I like it overall, but it sounds like great to hear.”

Schreier then posted the cord saying, “You can confirm this – one of which is that the Warcraft Pokemon Go game I mentioned in my first tweet was canceled earlier this year. The second will be announced next week,” he said. He added that Corden was unaware of the cancellation until he took to his Twitter account to check with his sources on the project.

While the reasons for Blizzard’s cancellation are unknown, Corden said it was wise to kill him because “he doesn’t play non-Pokémon-Pogo games very well.” Developed by Niantic, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite shut down in December after just a year and a half of operation.

Blizzard will reveal another Warcraft mobile game today at 1 p.m. ET. See the announcement here.
