international leagues
First, the most drastic change proposed is for Valorant esports to become international leagues, which means “New Weekly Premier Level Competition” play between selected teams that are “Long Term Partners” and “Full Investments”. Create the best experience for fans.
Riot said it will waive participation/franchise fees to reassure well-established organizations that want to apply for partnerships, and in return, it will provide financial scholarships to selected teams in exchange for their investments.
Riot’s ideal partner partners would be “individuals who have extensive experience building an esports experience, player development, and who can make a meaningful contribution to the long-term growth of Valorant esports.”
“In 2017,” Riot said in a statement, “we launched a partnership model for League of Legends esports, the League Championship Series. European, Chinese and Latin America, Korea, Brazil, Turkey and since 2017 the wider sports industry Teams have managed to win many years of planning, while players benefit from higher salaries and systems of stronger support.
“Together with Valorant, we are building the most exciting sport today with the best-run, ambitious and exciting organizations in the industry. We are launching a team application process to create this new ecosystem with esports organizations that share our vision.”
In 2023, Riot plans to introduce three such international leagues, made up of teams from multiple regions based on geographic proximity:
- North America, Latin America and Brazil
- Europe, Russia, Turkey and MENA (Middle East and North Africa)
- Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, South Asia and Oceania
These international leagues will have matches played with spectators (with health and safety clearances) in LANs and studios to determine which teams can qualify for top global tournaments such as the Masters and Champions adjacent to the Game Changers Championship .
national leagues
Just below Global Tournaments and International Leagues, you’ll find that Riot continues to invest in Game Changers and support third-party off-season tournaments and other local leagues.
