RICOCHET, the heart-level computing hoax, is finally out in time for Season 3 of Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Yesterday, Activision announced that the RICOCHET anti-fraud system will finally be launching worldwide for Vanguard. The release includes all driver updates since it was first released on Warzone, except for a few new updates.
Vanguard players will no doubt breathe a sigh of relief after ruining so many matches with obscure cheats and hacks. The ranked game has been particularly hit by a large number of scammers since its launch.
Activision’s RICOCHET team also revealed how the fight against fraud will further impact global rankings. “With the help of our internal development partners, we can verify that any security enforcement action that results in a player being banned will be reflected in every title on the leaderboard,” the statement read.
“To sum up: if a person is banned for fraud, they will be removed from the rankings.”

The statement also describes the means by which RICOCHET can mitigate the effects of fraud, in particular a feature called “Obfuscation”.
“Players who find themselves cheating with camouflage will not see their opponents in the game world. Characters, bullets, even the voices of legitimate players will not go unnoticed by cheaters.
This method also gives legitimate players an edge over scammers. Often players will be able to detect exploited cheaters and remove certain penalties from the game.
But as we all know, scammers are a fixed group, and RICOCHET is unlikely to be the main and end of the vanguard scams. As scammers look for ways to circumvent anti-fraud measures, the RICOCHET team is committed to eliminating them wherever possible.
“We encourage players to continue to use the in-game reporting tools. If you see anyone cheating in the wild, let them know. This information is invaluable in making further updates in the fight against foul play. .
