We’ve compiled a complete guide to catching Thundurus in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
The process of obtaining Thundurus is quite long as it requires players to have already passed the main campaign and be good enough for post-game content. By the time they were able to access the missions needed to capture Tundurus, they had probably already captured Dialga and/or Palkia. Luckily, like many other missions, catching Thundurus is very similar to catching other Pokemon on land.
Here’s where to find Thundurus and how to catch him in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Thundurus is located on cobalt beaches, especially near Sand’s Reach. This only happens during storms.
However, for Thundurus to appear, trainers will need to complete Mission 20: The Legend Wanderer, then complete Missions 21-26 to collect all of the plates from Azelf, Uxie, Mesprit, Regigigas, Heatran, and Cresselia.
With these plates in hand, Instructors can travel to the Galaxy Hall building, speak to the Cogita, and begin Quest 94: Hisu Incarnate Forces. They can then demand to go after Thundurus.
If all of the above conditions are met – start claim 94, head to Sand’s Reach on the Cobalt Coast and wait out the storm – Thundurus should spawn and be ready to fight.
Instructors may need to seek out the Basque Legion and head into open water to counter it. When he finds them, he launches hurricanes that they will have to avoid to continue the encounter. They will have to surprise Thunder by throwing things like mud balls or spoiled apricots.
Thundurus will appear at level 70 and his biggest weakness is ice and rocks. For this reason we recommend having the Hisuian Avalugg with you as it is made of ice and rock. Hisuian Arcanine, Glaceon, Weavile and/or Walrein are also acceptable substitutes.
The rest should be as easy as any other fight – dress him up so he doesn’t get lost and use your strongest PokeBalls to catch him.
Some may want to turn off the game’s autosave feature as an added safety in similar important battles.
