Pokémon Scarlet and Violet developers Game Freak have unveiled a new move: Shed Tail. This is a new move that uses the substitution ability seen in previous Pokemon games.
The ninth generation Pokémon will be set in the all-new region of Paldea and will, as always, see the introduction of new Pokémon and characters. Game Freak has already revealed a number of upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet items, including new Pokémon, as well as a new rival player, Nemona. Along with the usual new Pokemon announcements, Game Freak also showed off Shed Tail, one of the upcoming moves for new games.
Shed Tail is one of the new moves coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Unlike most moves, Shed Tail does no damage. According to Bulbapedia,
“Shed Tail creates a backup using half of the user’s HP, then disables the user. The unlocked pokemon will then have the substitution.
This move belongs to the new ninth generation Dragon and Cyclizar, a Normal-type Pokémon. Shed Tail seems like a similar, safer option, except for a move modifier. Part of its usefulness comes from the fact that it can replace any of your other Pokemon, rather than being limited to Cyclizar. Due to the relative difficulty of the move, it will primarily be used by professional players, not the average gamer.
Unfortunately, other information such as the type of move has not yet been disclosed.
