Like Pokemon itself, there are a number of methods and conditions necessary for evolution in Pokemon GO. ᲔYour includes:

Remember: once evolution has started, it cannot be stopped. After all, there isn’t exactly a “B” key on mobile devices.

This is the easiest way to evolve Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Every time trainers catch wild Pokémon, choose Pokémon from eggs, or walk around with friends, they are guaranteed to produce a certain amount of candy for that species and its evolution. Once they have enough candies, they can push the evolution of that type of Pokemon.

Most evolutions require increasing amounts of sugar per form. For example, Charmander becomes a chameleon by using 25 candies. Charmeleon can then be transformed into Charisma using 100 Candies.

To request an evolution, simply visit the Pokemon page, scroll down until the “Develop” button appears, then tap it. This will start the process.

All Pokemon will need Candy to evolve into any shape or form.

As new types of Pokémon have been added to the game, Niantic has been resourceful in having trainers evolve them. This manifests in the form of items – both new/exclusive to Pokemon GO and existing.

New upgradable items are usually limited to regional variants. ᲔYour includes:

Pre-existing items will also appear in Pokemon GO, for example:

The Pokemon page will tell trainers what items are needed for evolution, it will show the picture of the item, how many candies it needs. Trainers can defy evolution as long as they have this item and the right amount of sugar.

Rather than train a Pokémon in a specific region, Niantik decided to allow decoys to act as a useful symbol. For example, Trainers in Pokemon GO should drop the Glacial Lure and stay close to it, instead of turning it into a glacier in order to lead the House to an icy abyss.

Upon successful completion, the Pokémon will be able to click the “Evolve” button. In cases like Eevee, the corresponding Pokemon silhouette – Glaceon for Glacial Lure and Leafeon for Mossy Lure – will appear along with the candy number.

Currently, the following baits can be used to evolve certain types of Pokémon:

Some species, like the Rockruff, need time during the day to transform into one of their favorite forms. This is indicated in the “Upgrade” button next to the quantity of their desserts. Once Pokemon GO registers that it is after sunrise, it will be possible to press the Pokemon’s “Evolution” button.

Again, some species, like Rockefeller, need a certain time of day for development. Trainers will know their Pokémon are evolving at night if the “Evolution” button can be pressed after the sun has set.

At the time of writing, only one type of Pokémon requires manipulation of the trainer’s mobile device: Inkay!

To improve Inkay, instructors should hold the phone upside down. This will animate the “Evolution” button and allow them to push evolution as long as they have enough candies.
