Everything you need to know about the debut of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet –

We’ve rounded up the latest information on the creator species of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Sprigatito, Pokemon “Grass Cat” / The Pokemon Company

The Sprigatito is described as a “whimsical, attention-seeking” type of grass cat, and it really is one of the two most apt descriptions of a cat if we’ve ever seen them. The name of this little cat is a mixture of the word “shovel”, often used to designate a plant sap, and the Spanish word “gatito”, which means “kitten”.

This type’s “exaggerate” ability increases damage by 50% with a grass-type move when at 30% health or less. He stands approximately 1’4″ tall and weighs nearly 9 lbs.

Could this be the kind of tiger we’ve been waiting for? Perhaps knowing how popular oranges and orange trees are – especially in Valencia (i.e. “Valencian orange”), is there a connection between them?

Fuecoco, the “Fire Crocodile” Pokemon / The Pokemon Company

The name Fuecoco is a combination of two Spanish words: “Fuego” and “Cocodrillo”. The results are pretty obvious when put side by side, but for those who aren’t yet sure of the connection, “fuego” means “fire” and “cocodrillo” means “crocodile”.

His ability is “Blaze” – an Overgrow fire-type counterpart. When he reaches 30% health or less, his fire-type moves deal 50% more damage. It’s the heaviest starter at 1’4″ and weighs 21.6 pounds.

The developers described this type of fire as “calming” and “preferring to do things at their own pace”. Although crocodiles are not native to the Iberian Peninsula, they have been spotted on this side several times.

Quaxly, the Stylish “Duck Chicken” Pokemon / The Pokemon Company

Despite striking similarities to some popular cartoon ducks, the Quaxly is clearly known for being a “disciplined” and “friendly” breed. Some fans called him “Dapper”, among other things.

This Pokemon’s ability is “Torrent”, followed by Blaze and Overgrow. Water-type moves deal 50% more damage at 30% health or less. Quaxly is in the tallest group and is 1’8″ tall. It weighs 13.4 kilograms.

Quaxly is a bit different when it comes to references to the Iberian Peninsula. The species may be a visual reference for a white-capped duck with a distinctive white head and blue pad. Moreover, the beginning of his name – “Qua” – is a homophone of “Kua” in Spanish, a sound made by ducks.
