After winning the Lock-In, Team Liquid had favorite status in the NA LCS. They maintained that status for most of the regular season, only Cloud 9 pushed it a bit, which started the season off with a storm. However, neither of these two teams reached the final of the competition, both victims of the same butchers: evil geniuses. Indeed, after losing to 100T (C9’s first game and TL’s second game), both teams lost 3-0 seconds to the subsequent winners. Ironically, EG was sent as a double by Team Liquid in Game 1 of the playoffs. Now is the time to put Hans Samas’ performance under the microscope to understand how such a serious failure could have happened.
score out of 10:
- 0: Play Yummy Jungle (Why brother, why?)
- 1: Human part
- 2: Poor performance, worthless LCS drive
- 3-4: Small/big mistakes were made as expected
- 5: Average / alternately excellent and average
- 6-7: With his solid support, the player was one of the team’s driving forces
- 8-9: Not content with directly beating the opponent(s), the player offered himself the luxury of making crazy moves.
- 9.5:1v9 God per 200 IQ increments
- 10: If perfection had a name, it would be its own
- 11:1v9 God moves at 200 IQ when playing in the Yum Jungle
from dream to nightmare
This final started like a dream. Team Liquid’s first team openly said, “We’re going to play around our ADC and our midfield.” Hans was in Khaya, Biergsen was in Cork and the rest of the team was playing on you, Jarvan and Renata. His opponents responded with a livelier, collection-oriented composition. Despite holding his lane well, Hans really failed to take a decisive advantage over Dennis Jinks. It was a bit the case for his whole team (except for Bwipo, who logically dominated Shen by Aatrox from Impact), but overall the game was going well. Team Liquid had the advantage, the only downside being that the Dragon Souls were temporarily slipping away from them after stealing Inspired, but the team punished their opponents. One bad teamfight was enough to send the opposing Jinks into orbit and lose the raid game in just 3 minutes. If it is difficult to blame Hans for this defeat, we have to admit that he has the weapons to do things differently..
For the second game in a row, Team Liquid changed tactics and moved to a much more confrontational team. Hans was with Ash and his role was to start the action successfully. Even if it results in 13 kills out of 10, these stats are unimaginable compared to teammates where only Bwipo has less (9 kills / 13). Because although he supported him in the hallway, the Frenchman could not lead the boat. However, Team Liquid managed to take the lead in the match, even restoring Dragon Souls and Baron Nashor. However, the team still could not come to a conclusion.Eventually, Hans gets caught early in the fight, dies, and leaves his team without ADC, while his opponents take advantage of the Easter weather to end the match.
Aphelios won’t be enough
In the final round, Hans goes to Afelio, one of the most played champions in the split. Unless things went wrong on their lane, the team disbanded elsewhere in this final game. The tricolor could not fix anything, and he had no choice but to watch how his opponents got the final ticket. Hans, like Team Liquid, showed great things in this match and the rest of the division. All that remained was this summer for revenge for presenting NA with the first World Cup seed.
