League of Legends: Statement to an MMO that alarmed the public

The MMO set in the Runeterra universe is probably the second most anticipated game by the community after Project L (no, I’m not a traveler, we don’t get into fights… OK, OK, I’ll add some more sure, but fighting games are still the best). But this weekend, a clumsily worded statement managed to alarm a significant portion of the public.

The context

Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street is Riot Games’ lead MMO creator. For those who don’t know Gentleman, know that he specifically worked on Age of Empires games (late 90s) and some World of Warcraft before being hunted down by Riot Games. He managed to assemble his own team to work on this great project. However, one of his recent tweets hinted that the game might never be released, which quickly sparked the craziest rumors.

In addition to the possible running of stealth ads, Ghostcrawler also revealed that this MMO will likely be their last major project. However, very little information about the game has leaked and it is unlikely to be released in a few years. This shouldn’t be a big deal though, as Lost Ark has recently proven that there’s still a huge demand for games of this type, even though some believe the MMO genre is becoming increasingly popular. However, back to the section: “There is no guarantee that the game will be released”.

Descriptions

In fact, Ghostcrawler made the mistake of ignoring the fact that part of the community didn’t know how to make games. It is not always enough to create a playable version so that it automatically comes out, especially with publishers like Riot Games. The game must meet certain criteria, offer a quality experience considered by the publisher, briefly pass all the tests while achieving relatively dense specifications. Thus, the developer nuances and clarifies that the version of the game is definitely not in the hands of the players because they are still working on the project.

League of Legends

This gives us more details to make sure that development is going well at the moment, but they are not insured against the insurmountable problem that arises. It is possible that without experiencing this disaster scenario, the game does not meet Riot Games’ expectations or simply passes the quality filters. This kind of mishap is more common than you might think, and that’s why Ghostcrawler prefers to be on the safe side. As scary as it sounds, such an explanation can be sought for the myriad of promises that will eventually not be fulfilled. There is very little information about this MMO today. It’s not even clear which will be primarily PvE or PvP based (both will be available, but MMOs may be more PvE focused like WoW or PvP like Dark Age of Camelot or Warhammer Age of Reckoning).
