Riot Games has managed to make League of Legends one of the most successful video game-inspired television series in history. But Arkan’s path was simple. We’ve heard in the past about the company’s reluctance to greenlight the project and how a spectacular scene managed to win over the developers. However, the adventure didn’t end when the series was approved. From then until its premiere, there was a time when it was canceled almost permanently.
Arcane wasn’t always as good a show as we thought
After a lot of hard work even before Arcane was announced, Riot Games, the people behind the project, have provided the story ideas and all the details for the first season. According to series producer Jane, “Christian[fikrin arkasındaki ana itici güç]was called to a meeting. It was a kind of interference that other writers told him he was uncomfortable with.. The response from everyone involved in creating the early chapters has been tremendous.
This lawsuit took place in 2018 and Riot Games’ requirements were clear about the quality required to sue Arcane. The developer wanted the series to be exactly as it is and not get lost behind the streaming platform’s catalog. Due to the circumstances, they stopped production, which put the project in jeopardy. It wasn’t a permanent cancellation, but the studio where the first season was made couldn’t have let the employees sit idle for so long.
The project failed and even Riot Praeco, who we call Christian, lost hope. However, he had an idea, and that’s when things took a much more positive turn. He called various departments at Riot Games to find out what they could do. A much smaller budget, of course, but which will allow most of the staff to keep their jobs while those in charge of Arcane are busy reworking everything to meet expectations.
Praeco’s idea not only saved the studio from closure and its employees from unemployment, but it also resulted in two very interesting projects. “We spoke with an esports team. They wanted to shoot a music video… which became the music video for Rise. Next, we spoke to a music team working on a crazy idea for a K-pop group. (…) Fortunately, Alex and I are just minding our business. If we hadn’t spent more time developing the story, the pop/star and Rise clips would never have surfaced.– explained Christian.
At this point, those responsible for launching the Arcane decided to do everything possible to ensure the studio’s survival. They hired AV workers with an extended line of direction. Thus, experienced professionals were involved in the development of Arcane and worked to significantly improve the League of Legends series.. This way, cases that took days can be settled in just one hour.
The story ended well. With the redesign of Arcane, another conversation took place in the offices of Riot Games. It was Nicolo who was the CEO of the company trying to expand the company into games outside of League of Legends. He was responsible for the situation by suggesting to the employee that: “We’re not going to fund an entire season of Arcane. And I’ll tell you why. (…) And the reason I’m not funding an entire season is because I’m going to let you do some- ones.”. It all started three years ago, when the light was given, but the legend started from there.
