Riot Games didn’t miss the announcements in its latest video showing the changes coming to League of Legends in the coming months. The studio specifically announced the name of famous tank K’Sante, the next character to join Summoner’s Rift, but also gave the first hints of new champions coming in early 2023.

In addition to these novelties, the studio has also promised mid-range updates. It’s been a lot in recent months, we can think of Jana, Ahri, Svein, Talia, Olaf or more recently Sivir. Since Riot Games releases new champions more slowly, the studio has more time to make minor updates to champions that are no longer up to scratch. And the developers won’t stop there, as two new characters have already been selected to receive an interim update.

Syndra and Neeko will receive significant changes

Mid-tier updates are not meant to revamp a champion’s look, theme, or gameplay – like VMGs (visual and gameplay updates). Instead, the studio wants to burnish the image of champions who don’t live up to the expectations of the players who value them. Riot Games tries to improve their world rather than reinvent it.

For Swain, for example, they made him an even more powerful frontal mage. For Ahri, they focused on her active mage side rather than the slayer she had become.

Syndra and Neeko are champions affected by the meta changes of the past few months. Dark Sovereign’s mobility is above average and there are currently other mid lane mages doing better than him, such as Ahri and even Talia. This partial shift in his abilities could be a great way for him to reinvigorate himself both in SoloQ and on the competitive circuit.

Neko is a champion who hasn’t been around as long as Syndra, but her fate is the same. He’s not a bad champion but it’s true that he has become very slow because It’s too specific a choice to be effective in most games.. We still don’t know how big the changes will be to these two champions, but given the previous revamp, we pretty much know what to expect from Riot Games: mobility improvements, damage fixes, and, better. again, moderate to significant changes for a few. capacities.
