A few days ago, Riot Games presented the first elements of the changes expected in the jungle in season 13 of League of Legends. The studio has one main goal: to make the jungle more accessible to players and champions. During a recent presentation highlighting what’s new and new champions coming to Summoner’s Rift, the studio took the opportunity to reveal some new information about the changes to the jungle.
A less punitive position
Riot Games has said this before, from a champion perspective, they want to make the ability to clear camps fairer. The principle is simple: “To get some relief from the hassle of killing monsters and spawning them in other aspects of the game.” We still don’t know exactly what the studio meant by that, but it looks like we have an answer.
The jungle role isn’t the easiest to play, yet it’s crucial to the team’s strategy. That’s why Riot Games wants the jungle to be more intuitive and help smooth out the finer points. The first change will improve buff sharing. Appreciating your lane players is important when you’re a jungler, but losing their gold, XP, and bonuses is painful. So Riot wants to change that to make the process less tiring for junglers, like buffs that drop a small creature that also has the buff, among other things. .
Riot is also working to improve the waiting rules at Jungle Camps. The goal is to ensure that you are not penalized for unintentionally moving camps too far. (For example, when the camp resets when you try to create another one).
These changes will help mitigate the penalties in such a case. Some junglers like to max out monster kills and Riot Games wants to reward them for that. Empty camps will continue to be unique and ideal for champions like Kane, who started with the Predators, for example.
The goal is not to make it easier to master the jungle, but to make it easier to start the jungle. Other jungle mods are also in the works, but it’s too early to tell, according to the studio.
