League of Legends is a well-balanced game (yes, yes, really. For a game with 160 characters, League of Legends is a real balancing act, often forgotten, keeping only the worst discrepancies suggested by the creators). It’s just that the game is far from symmetrical and not to mention Summoner’s Rift. AD champions don’t have the equivalent of an AP ion hourglass (ADCs cry from S1 to this), while AP lifesteal mechanics are often ridiculous (with a fair share of Vladimir-led exceptions) . Controversial stats include stamina, one of League of Legends’ most difficult mechanics, with many issues.
Company
Tenacity is a stat used to reduce crowd control time. The more champion you are, the more stuns, stuns, slows, etc. The less time he spends on situations. These stats are not only essential for tanks and rookies who want to successfully hit the baseline at some point in the game, but are also very effective on weak characters. Regaining control of your character faster can mean surviving a lightning attack and then regaining control. These stats are very hard to get because there are only two items (Mercury Boots + Sun Skin, which gives 5% stamina on each finished item) and two runes that can do this. Other units or spells will help you in the fight against crowd control (QSS leaders), but none of these passive stats.
Also, historically, stamina has been associated with magic resistance. It’s probably because Magi generally have controlling effects when it comes to gameplay, but that’s only gotten more pronounced over the years. Likewise, QSS, another key point in the fight against CC, brings RM with it. Today, to have a flexible object, you have to invest in statistics that are not necessarily useful in a particular situation.
Restraint and Fortress
Strength is designed not to be easy to stack. It’s not explicitly stated in-game, but the stamina gained on various items/runes doesn’t correspond directly. It is calculated according to this formula (list of objects/runes/powers and the category to which they belong):
Beyond that formula, there’s an artificial limit that makes the 30% durability cap much more difficult today, even though it’s totally impossible for most champions. Naturally, some characters like Morgana would be completely useless if it were possible to reduce their control effects by 80% without sacrificing too many stats. If we go into more items with stamina, the game’s artificially set limit may explode, upsetting the whole balance of the game. Nobody wants to play against Trindammer, Jacks or any other dice that can’t be stopped or caught.
This well-managed endurance is simply a bad decision, but it is far from over. These stats are not designed in response to a specific champion, but as an opportunity to vent some frustrations with high CC teams. Every player has experienced this extremely slow spin for 6 seconds where you can’t do anything but watch yourself die. Perseverance should give a good answer, turn those 6 seconds into 4 seconds (yes, that’s 33% less and not 30%, but that’s an example!) And that’s when it comes into its own meaning. I don’t know if it will carry over into Legends 2, at least in its current form, but another mechanic will do the same later.
