FIFA 23 Division Rivals: Format, Rewards, Predictions

FIFA 23 Ultimate Team will be announced this month and is expected to include a number of changes across game modes. One of the great features of FUT Competitive is the Division Rivals mode, which allows players to climb the leaderboard by playing against players around the world, with rewards for qualifying as FUT Champions and climbing through the ranks of division.

While we wait for the Ultimate Team reveal, we can predict the changes we’ll see in the Division Rivals mode, hopefully for the best. Here are our predictions for the Rivals format and rewards system for FIFA 23.

Division Rivals is structured very simply: you play to win and earn points, as winning consecutive games allows you to move divisions into the Elite Division. One thing players often comment on is that once you reach a higher rank, there are no games and you have to rank up to find games. Once in games, players would often fight other players late in the game, with little reward for winning each match.

While connectivity issues are something EA needs to address with its network and not the mod itself, it could change the episode format to make the mod more playable. EA probably won’t change much with Division Rivals, but changes to rank position in each division, such as an easier way to rank up, will help make Division Rivals more playable.

EA should also try to add another incentive for opponents outside of the FUT Champions Qualifier. It would probably be more sought after as a game mode if there were better stage rewards to be earned in game mode. It’s hard to predict if EA will pursue any of these ideas, but it would be great to make the more valuable Division Rivals reward system.

FIFA 23 will be released worldwide on September 30 on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Stadia. Ultimate Team Reveal will be released on August 11.
