EA Sports has announced that for the first time in FIFA history, crossplay is available in FIFA 23, allowing players to play against each other on any platform. The feature first appeared at the end of FIFA 22, when players were allowed to change a cross-play setting that allowed them to play against players from other platforms in Seasons and Online Expos.

The feature was promising for most fans, but one FIFA community fan left a sour taste in their mouth. While crossplay is available in most online game modes, it will be removed from Pro Clubs mode.
Pro Clubs is a mode in FIFA that lets you team up with your friends and compete against other clubs created in online seasons to create your own club with your own custom players. It has gained traction over the past few years as creators get into play mode together and form their own clubs. However, for those who play Pro Clubs more often, the news of the lack of crossplay is disappointing.
VFL_The Twitter page dedicated to the Pro-Clubs game mode posted an announcement on July 20 that got a lot of attention from the FIFA community.
“We request an explanation as to why you have decided to ignore professional clubs and skip your cross-play modes,” the statement read.
The VFL_ decided to become a community leader and demanded an answer from EA regarding the Pro Clubs mode, which has received little attention over the years. “As a community leader who has spent 10 years on the game mode, I think it’s time to take the lead in publicly and directly asking EA Sports why we love our game mode again. And the game is ignored.
Pro Club players have seen EA Sports’ big money maker, FIFA Ultimate Team, get all the attention and updates year after year. VFL_ points out that the Pro Clubs game mode is dying and for some FIFA 23 this may be the last chance to regain that spark for the mod. #SaveProClubs is now trending in the FIFA community, but it’s unclear if EA will respond to this interest.
As TheVFL_ explains, EA Sports FUT has made more money from the game mode. But it’s not fair that that FUT excitement comes at the expense of a game mode that would be much better if FUT had the half the attention.
