The new trailer shows what the crossover between Call of Duty: Warzone and the classic monster Kaiju Godzilla is.
Activision released a teaser on April 13 featuring a caldera hit by a Nebula Bomb, a drop that quickly escaped a part of the map with poisonous gas in the game. It appears that several players are fighting a platoon of Nazi soldiers. before they approach a truck full of barrels and chemicals. The narrator then recounts how the bombs woke up with more force than we could have imagined. Then the video is reduced to the last titles with a static but undoubtedly animal touch in the background.
There is a lot of speculation as to whether this smile is actually bait or just bait and switch. But for fans of the latest film franchise, there are a few key clues that show it’s real.
First, the teaser mentions that there’s a “storm,” a metaphor often used to describe Cashews’ return in movies. Additionally, the nebula bombs and chemical damage to wildlife coincide with Godzilla’s theme that nature will react if humanity believes its existence transcends nature.
Finally, some visual clues are hidden inside the trailer. The first is one of the characters who, despite being in the WWII game, has a helicopter helmet with the yellow symbol of the First Air Cavalry Division. It’s the same symbol used by the Sky Devils helicopter squadron on Kong Skull Island that predates the Godzilla Overload movies.
Second, some truck wheels have white triangles quite similar to the symbol of the monarch, a fictional organization trying to control these monsters.
All in all, these are some of the great potential easter eggs and indicate the likelihood of the goose dropping in COD. Looks like it just came out of nowhere, but for giant lizard fans, this change is a welcome one.
