Although it was reported that Activision won’t be releasing a new Call of Duty game in 2023 for the first time in nearly 20 years, the publisher assured fans that it would be releasing “premium content” in the year. next.

In the company’s second quarter 2022 earnings report released on Monday, the company said, “Across the Call of Duty ecosystem, teams are well positioned to support these launches with significant live operations and continue to develop new premium content planned for 2023 and beyond.”

Activision declined to provide further details, leaving the possibilities wide open. Premium content could mean paid DLC for pre-existing Call of Duty – possibly for Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty’s next mainline game, which releases on October 28. That could mean a smaller Call of Duty spin-off, perhaps focusing solely on the Zombies game mode. But that’s not the case for Warzone 2, as Activision says the game will be released later this year.

After Modern Warfare 2, the next big Call of Duty game will likely be a Black Ops game. Treyarch is reportedly leading development on this game, which is targeting a 2024 release.
