Activision has come under fire after being accused of plagiarizing the new Warzone Loyal Samoyed look in the Floof Fury Tracer Pack.
Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard have received a mid-season update that brings a host of new features, including brand new cosmetics. An upcoming volume has caught the eye, but not for the right reasons.
Operator Kim Tae Young’s new look sees the actor portrayed as a giant, furry Samoyed dog dubbed the “Loyal Samoyed.” However, concept artist Sailin took to Twitter to upload his own work “Samoye Medical”, which he uploaded to ArtStation in 2019.
The artist shared a striking resemblance between his concept art and Activision’s upcoming Samoyed costume, saying, “I’m very disappointed to have my work stolen by a big company like Activision.
I need to clarify this issue, COD Vanguard Samoye skin plagiarism.https://t.co/ltHTSNhEtf #CallofDutyVanguard #COD #avant-garde @Activision pic.twitter.com/OD2M4WNUms

Activision has removed the Cannes footage from its website, as reported by Polygon. The skin was originally featured on the Raven Software blog for Season 4 updates and has since changed to its current state.
“I have contacted Activision for an explanation and/or compensation and hope the situation will be resolved soon,” the artist said. “There’s so much I can do as an individual artist and I need to talk about it so this kind of dilution doesn’t happen again in the future.”
The plagiarism allegations have since attracted a lot of attention and Kahn’s images have now been removed from all promotional materials. As of this writing, neither Activision nor its affiliates have directly responded to the allegations.
