FaZe Clan’s Call of Duty League team Atlanta Faze issued an official apology on Thursday for a tweet that community members called misogynistic.

In a tweet posted on Tuesday, team members asked, “How many glasses to take home?” using a filter that makes them look like women. posed with the title.
Given the historically visible misogyny throughout gaming culture, not to mention lobbies in games like Call of Duty in particular, this has understandably drawn backlash from followers online.
Team Liquid CEO Steve “LiQuiD112” Arhansett described the tweet as “absolutely disgusting.”
“Too much bullshit bro,” he wrote Thursday.
In apology, Atlanta FaZe acknowledged a longstanding pattern of misogyny in the game.
“We understand that there is no place for misogynistic or abusive behavior and that women and the Call of Duty community deserve better,” the team said. He added that the issue had been discussed internally.

This is the latest in a long line of scandals FaZe Clan has faced. Just this week, Fortnite shot and killed a member of its professional staff for using a racial slur on a show. Fans were understandably frustrated with the FaZe members’ lack of professionalism and ability to operate within a fairly straightforward framework of acceptable behavior. A fan commented on the apology post, urging Atlanta FaZe to “do better” and questioned the logic behind the post, even going as far as drafts.
Still, most responses to the apology post reflect the direction of gaming culture, with many users saying they don’t see the post as a big deal and that whoever wrote it is too sensitive.
