At first, the gritty Legend Octane appeared virtually unchanged in Season 12 of Apex Legends. Players have now discovered that they cannot throw it in the air normally when deploying Octane’s ultimate, the Throwing Pad. Considering this is Octane’s ultimate talent, it’s definitely a pressing issue for Respawn Entertainment.
This bug was first reported by Reddit user u/tEH_ReALDeadPoole, who posted a video on the Apex subreddit showing an issue with the Octane Launch Pad and not being able to use it. Jumping, sliding, or even running on his octane didn’t cause him to jump, making it a completely useless skill.
Bugs with Octane’s launch pads are not uncommon, as players in 2020 had a similar issue when the animation was on, but it didn’t activate them, leaving them in the same state as before.
This time the animation is not even active. Instead, it feels like decor on the map, rather than an effective item for the whole team.
There are some reports that this bug only occurs on Olympus, but it is also found in other places like King Canyon.
With the Season 12 finale, there wasn’t a lot of information about upcoming patches to address post-release issues. Hopefully, Respawn will sooner or later fix Octane’s launch pad so players can take full advantage of its abilities, as it’s a fan-favorite among the Apex community.
