I’ve played almost every replay of the series, including the N-Gage game, so yeah, you can definitely say I’m a huge Tomb Raider fan. I have a lot of hope but also a lot of anxiety about the acquisition by Embracer Group of one of my favorite franchises in the video game industry.
So far, we know that Lara Croft is currently getting her 13th installment in the main series, a new logo has been revealed, and the next Tomb Raider will be made using the new Unreal Engine 5. The all-inclusive agreement does not change these facts. Other than that, we hardly know what direction the next game will take or if it will change direction now.
It’s something I and many fans were hoping to see in the Square trilogy – sadly, by the end of Game 3, I still didn’t feel like Lara’s reboot was on the same page as the classic Lara. It didn’t have the same bite and humor as the classic Lara, something I missed so much in my game. I realize that the Lara reboot is supposed to bring its own personality, a fresh take on the old , but as someone who grew up with and empowered by classic Lara, Lara’s reboot felt a bit missed.
The idea of combining the best of both characters is exciting – the Duel Pistols with their unlimited ammo, the famous blue tank top, the brown shorts, the bottomless backpack, the iconic ponytail and of course Lara’s winning personality. originals. When it comes to Square Enix era Lara, I want her to hold the climbing axe, the bow, and the beautiful places we’ve been to around the world. If we combine all these elements, I think we will have an absolute winner for the next Tomb Raider game.

We have no information on whether Square Enix plans to go in this direction – this is purely fan speculation and my personal expectations – but with the games we’re currently spiraling out of control, I can definitely see more of this vision. most likely. The transition to Tomb Raider is perhaps the biggest blessing the series has received, and hopefully the lessons of the previous trilogy can be learned.
