In Teardown you will steal, destroy and have fun – INDIAN

Logic sandbox. I must say that these are words that did not inspire much confidence in me when I first heard them. I love logic games and I love getting rid of them in the sandbox, but I can hardly imagine combining these two things in a quality design. So when the newly reviewed game Teardown got to Stee’s tentative approach, I didn’t want to be interested in her at all and despite the positive reviews, I just passively watched her.

But now that the game itself is out in version 1.0, I told myself that now is the right time to jump in and see if this “extremely positive” rating on Steam is actually a reality. If this is not just an empty sandbox, relegating the logical part to the background, or vice versa. And I’m actually very surprised that it’s not like that at all.

As you probably came up with in the introductory words “logical sandbox” – the first, second and third violins are played here mainly by the playability itself and upon it stands and falls all its foundation and presupposition. In the role of a kind of demolition expert from different people, you take contracts that you have to gradually complete as part of a relatively simple lineup campaign. However, this is not a purposeful destruction of buildings, or God forbid, just digging up walls so as not to accidentally destroy anything else. Usually your task is to do something a little less legal naturewhich you will help complete this demolition. Plus, you might not have to worry about “using it wisely” at all.

In any case, you will steal paintings, demolish public places, dive into cars or safes, collect personal property, and so on. However, in most cases, these physical things are related to the alarm clock.. So as soon as you get in the car and start or take a precious picture, the alarm goes off. At this point, you have 60 seconds to complete all other main objectives and then escape by boarding your van or the ship you arrived on. Of course, this is not at all easy. The individual locations you can get into are not the smallest, they often offer several floors and many rooms and corridors. And the things that you have to steal, destroy or otherwise manipulate, of course, are scattered throughout the location from one region to another. In fact, you can’t do much in just one minute. And this is where destruction, demolition and other ways of interacting with the environment around you come.

You can easily make holes in walls to create a direct path between two objects. But just as often as you break something, you will use other elements at your disposal. For example, you will soon be able to build boards that can serve as a simple ramp to higher ground. You will almost always find several different vehicles on hand. You can use people to quickly move from one part of the mission to another, an excavator to quickly destroy brick walls, and a crane to move heavy things. Often it can even happen that the alarm clock itself, which is associated with your main task, can be moved. This way you can move some things around without voicing them and create a strategy and plan to get it all done in a minute.

So while you can come and actually level the entire map that is part of the sandbox, to complete the challenge you have to think about what, where and how to tear down, where to move and how to prepare something so that you can complete your challenge in minute. Which of course is the logical part. Both dependent and independent work fine.
