Yesterday afternoon after 17:00 Bethesda launched the long-awaited migration of the Bethesda.net Launcher library, which will be launched in the coming weeks terminatedon Steam. So, if you have Bethesda games that you could only play through a long-forgotten launcher, all you need to do is visit the corresponding page and, by logging into your Bethesda account, start the transfer.

The transfer requires a Bethesda account to be linked to your current Steam account.. If you have merged two profiles in the past, the whole process is quite simple, although it has its own peculiarities. this may take several tens of minutes. So just follow the instructions, wait a while, and soon all the paid games you own in the Bethesda.net Launcher will be available on Steam.

Bethesda also prepared overview of instructions to move saved positions. In most cases, no action is required, or it is enough to move the saved position files to another folder, but there are two exceptions. DOOM Eternal requires upload saved positions to Steam Cloud, which is not exactly a trivial process, so you need to use the appropriate tool. On the other hand, in the case of the co-op shooter Wolfenstein: Youngblood, moving your progress is impossible because profile data created in the Bethesda.net Launcher version of the game is not compatible with the version available on Steam at all.. On the other hand, Wolfenstein: Youngblood is arguably the worst game Bethesda has released in years, at least it’s definitely the worst Wolfenstein, so losing progress in this case might not hurt. It’s just better to forget about this mess altogether.

However, as usual, the whole migration process is not without flaws. You may encounter an error message when trying to link your Bethesda account to your Steam profile.. This is usually due to your Steam account being linked in the past to a different Bethesda account than the one you’re currently signed in to, so you’ll need to find all and disable the accounts first. In addition, some titles cannot be transferred in some regions.. For example, players report transfer problems. Quake 3 Arena on the territory of Germany. Otherwise, by the way, all games that were available for free in various promotions in the past should move to you. It’s about titles. Earthquake, Earthquake 2, Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout: Tactics and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

They also appear problems with moving some publications, for example, in the case of the RAGE 2 shooter. Even if you have the Deluxe Edition, during the transfer process you will always find out that only the Standard Edition is transferred. Here’s what we experienced in the Steam library, however, DLC related to the contents of the Deluxe Edition and even the pre-order bonus. But some players aren’t so lucky, so all we have to do is contact Bethesda support. Now its employees will undoubtedly take care of their work and entertainment.

As expected, this also applies to the fact that even if you successfully move all games and saved positions, you should forget about automatically unlocking Steam achievements. Some can be unlocked after loading saved positions, but this is always a manual process where you need to load the correct save in the correct state. Therefore, it is usually necessary to prepare for the need to re-unlock achievements by playing the game again.

In addition, free games will not automatically appear in your library after the transfer is completed. This applies not only to games like Fallout Shelter, The Elder Scrolls: Legends or Quake Championswhich have been available on Steam for many years, as well as games The Elder Scrolls: Arena, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territorywhich were not yet available on Steam. We recently informed you about their arrival and have been available in the Valve client for several days. If you are interested in them, you must find them in the store and manually add them to the library.

At least the good news is that all these games are still free and of course any Steam user can add them to their library, regardless of the Bethesda.net Launcher port. Mods for Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition are also available for free on Steam, but they are hidden in the tools menu.

Worth mentioning the case by name DUM 3. For several years now, a special version has been available in the Bethesda.net Launcher, which is a cut from the DOOM 3 compilation. DOOM 3: BFG Edition from 2012. It’s named after the famous 2004 original, but also features improvements and content from the BFG edition. Alternatively, you can connect to your Bethesda account to receive the corresponding skin for DOOM Eternal. If you have this version, it will appear on Steam under the name after moving DOOM 3: Bethesda.net Edition. So if you have both the original and the BFG edition, You can now have three different versions of DOOM 3 in your library.. And it pays off.

If you’re not a GOG.com fan, you can also buy Forgotten Projects on Steam. Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire and The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard. Some players even report that The Steam version of Redguard works better than the version available on GOG.com for years., which is a very rare occurrence because it is almost always the other way around. Compared to this Arena and Daggerfall also only work on Steam thanks to DOSBox.so if you want to play the first installments of The Elder Scrolls saga in a compelling, more modern fashion, get ready to have to search for mods.
